Meet the Shaper

A self-taught surfboard craftsman by the age of 14, Bryan Knowles (aka – “BK”) caught the bug and knew that shaping would always be a big part of his life. Throughout his teens Bryan made boards for close friends from his backyard shaping shed on the Cape (Cape Cod, MA). Eager to see what the west coast had to offer, he applied to colleges throughout California and was accepted at Stanford where he geeked out on a mix of neuro-psychology, product design and entrepreneurial business, while continuing to shape surfboards. To this day, BK can still recite lines from his Stanford admissions essay, which he wrote about his passion for shaping. Now, several years and a desk job or two post-graduation, Bryan has turned his passion into a business as co-founder and head shaper at Ride Anything.

“I couldn’t be more excited about where we’re headed! It’s amazing how things take shape when ideas from everyday mortals and pro’s alike influence our RAD (Rider-Aided-Design) process. Surfing is my life and creating great surfboards is what I need to do to stay sane. I have to be in the water or in the shaping room every day or things just start getting weird. What can I say, I guess I’m just a guy who digs curves!”
